Tripura govt to form advisory committee on VAT
Tripura government has decided to form a state level advisory committee to monitor implementation of the Value Added Tax (VAT) which was enforced in the state from April 1.
“There may be counfusion or queries among the state’s business commuinity as VAT is a new concept in the process of tax collection, so we have decided to form an advisory committee for its effective implementation", Finance Minister Badal Choudhury said in a seminar at Belonia town in South Tripura district last night.
The new tax regime would neither harm the interests of the business community nor cause any public inconvenience, he said adding all problems would be sorted out through negotiation.
Official sources said many such seminars and awareness camps would be organised to sensitise traders as well as the general public in the state.
