IT Park puts city on global map; VAT arrives, finally
THE year 2005 saw UT Administration’s biggest and most ambitious plan-IT Park- finally getting matured.
The Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park (RGCTP) became a reality when it was inaugurated by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. While OuterBay and IBM Daksh started functioning immediately, Infosys, Virsa Systems and Net Solutions are likely to begin operations from January in the Park which has become the destination for IT job seekers of the region.
Ten more companies including three from abroad, which have been allotted build-to-suit sites, will start functioning from next year. UT officials are also holding talks with major IT players for setting up their units at the Park. Next on the Administration’s agenda is the development of the second phase of the IT park.
