Industrialists to boycott ministers on non-issuance of VAT refund
UNITED Cycles Parts and Manufacturers Association has announced that the industrialists will be boycotting all the ministers of Punjab for non-issuance of VAT refunds till date. In addition to this, the officials associated with the issuance of these refunds will also be boycotted, said Varinder Kapoor General Secretary of the Association in a meeting conducted today at the office of Association located at Gill Road. He added, ‘‘Despite our repeated representations nothing has been done on the refund issue so we appeal to all industrialists not to welcome any minister or official whenever they come to the city to attend any function. They should not be invited to the programmes conducted by industrialists.’’
He added that the issue of VAT refund had been taken up even with CM Capt Amrinder Singh, Finance Minister Surinder Singla and many other higher officials.
The members added that out of the total amount of refunds a total of Rs 33 crore
belongs to Ludhiana industrialists alone. The members also protested against government’s move to propose turnover tax instead of octroi in the coming months.
President G.L. Pahwa and other members of association K.K Seth, Jaswant Singh Birdi, Ajit Singh Kular, Manmohan Sing Ubhi, Kamlainder Singla were also present in the meeting.
