Fiji government revenue set to fall after removal of VAT
The Fiji Retailers’ Association says the removal of a Value Added Tax (VAT) on five basic food items and kerosene will have a big impact on government coffers.
On January 1 the VAT in Fiji on edible oil, flour, rice, powdered milk, tinned fish and kerosene will be abolished.
The news website, Fijilive, reports that the Retailers’ Association says the move will cut government revenue by more than $US25 million.
