To keep VAT away, traders plan ahead
The city’s traders once again re-iterated their determination to bottle the “VAT Bhoot” today and announced a host of agitation measures to be implemented in the coming week. They also promised to make the upcoming strike on the 29th “a complete success.”
“We will take out a torch rally through the Janpath market two days before the all India strike… to be followed by a scooter-rally on the next day,” announced Lakshminarayan Aggarwal, the officiating President of the Lucknow Vyapar Mandal.
At a press conference in the capital today, he said the traders of UP were “grateful” to the Chief Minister for not implementing VAT. “He has said that the system will not be introduced untill the fears and misgivings of the traders are not eliminated,” he said.
Despite this, he said the merchant community of this state also had to support the all-India strike “in sympathy of their fellow traders in other parts of the country.”
